A Few Bars at Ya

Intro
Shhh...
Yeah...
A few bars at ya...
Flip the story...
I know eyes watchin'...
Verse 1
I'ma keep it a buck,
Soon as the bucks came,
everything changed,
Funny how the bread rose,
Then the true colors showed through the paint,
That's a damn shame,
Funny how she switched lanes,
Back to the old name,
I was chasing bigger goals,
Trying to leave a footprint, not a footprint in the blame,
Some people love the shine,
Some people love the flame,
Some people love the player,
Till the player change the game,
Me?
I stayed down,
Stayed focused,
Stayed working through the rain,
Shhh...
I can't complain.
Hook
Shhh...
I can't complain,
Money came,
People changed,
Funny how they watch every move
But swear they ain't engaged,
Stayed ten toes,
Never moved for the praise,
Still thank God,
I can't complain.
Verse 2
Used to question every loss,
'Til I saw the lesson hiding,
Now I read between the lines
Like the truth was in the margins,
Everybody got a hand out,
Few got a hand in,
Funny how they want a seat
But never helped build the table they sitting in,
I built it from the dirt,
Now they treat the soil sacred,
Same ones overlooking seeds
Asking how the garden made it,
Riddle me this—
If they don't care,
Why they tracking every statement?
How they know every move
Without following the placement?
Shhh...
I can't complain.
Hook
Shhh...
I can't complain,
Money came,
People changed,
Funny how they watch every move
But swear they ain't engaged,
Stayed ten toes,
Never moved for the praise,
Still thank God,
I can't complain.
Verse 3
Took a few L's,
Turned them sideways, now they lessons,
Closed doors taught me more
Than half my old connections,
Some blessings show up
Disguised as rejections,
That's why I thank God
For delayed expectations,
Peace worth more than proving points
To people who ain't invested,
I'm trying to own the building,
They debating who the guest is,
Big difference,
I was playing chess
With people moving checkers,
Now they call it luck
Like they missed the work and effort,
Shhh...
I can't complain.
Hook
Shhh...
I can't complain,
Money came,
People changed,
Funny how they watch every move
But swear they ain't engaged,
Stayed ten toes,
Never moved for the praise,
Still thank God,
I can't complain.
Verse 4
Flip the story,
I know eyes watching,
I can hear the fake lashes
Clacking, smacking,
Forward these bars
While you fake laughing,
Acting unbothered,
But the whole group chatting,
Funny how silence
Make the loudest reactions,
You don't mention my name,
But somehow I'm the caption,
If I'm not the topic,
Then explain the attachment,
How you know every move
Without following the action?
Riddle me that,
I'm a mirror,
That's why they uncomfortable,
Every shot they throw
End up looking refundable,
Meanwhile,
I'm stacking floors,
They measuring ceilings,
Trying to count my blessings
While they count my dealings,
Still unbothered,
Still building,
Still climbing,
Still winning,
Still smiling,
Still grateful,
Shhh...
I can't complain.
Final Hook
Shhh...
I can't complain,
Money came,
People changed,
Truth hit different
When the spotlight aimed,
Lost a few,
Found myself,
That's a fair exchange,
Still thank God,
I can't complain,
Stayed down,
Stayed solid,
Never folded under strain,
Look around,
Everything changed,
Still thank God...
I can't complain.
Outro
Money came...
People changed...
Masks fell...
Truth remained...
Eyes watched...
People talked...
God stayed...
I evolved...
Shhh...
A few bars at ya...
I can't complain.
