You know mirrors reflect; memories play back like tape.
Funny how the truth runs laps while a lie inflates.
I waited. Wait. Wait.
The whole time the trap had bait,
I was trying to build bridges,
They were calculating escapes.
It was nice being the devil; at least the devil shows his face.
Some people smile like angels while rehearsing their betrayals every day.
I couldn't see the hustle, vision clouded by faith,
Even the kids kept the story straight; grown folks couldn't do the same.
It wasn't a figure eight, there was never infinity,
Just a snake eating itself, calling dysfunction chemistry.
More lies.
More lies.
Enough lies to build a mansion in the sky, still wasn't tall enough to explain the reason why.
Made my bones cry. Eyes dry.
Heart pump oil, engine running hot, survival mode activated when the script got caught.
Another poem.
She's spoiled rotten.
Forgotten.
Still plotting.
Funny how some people miss you most when they lose the option.
Pet names.
Changed names.
Cheap games.
Damn shame.
Everybody changing costumes,
But the ending stayed the same.
Now I'm on a mission to change men's lives, 'Cause even Villa Rica knew the lies.
Don't call me cousin.
Don't call me nephew.
Especially when the whole tribe knew what they never confessed to.
Everybody knew.
Nobody spoke.
Then acted surprised when the whole bridge broke.
Laughing when I came to show love.
That part stuck.
Baby daddies wouldn't even give their daughters hugs.
Talking morals.
Talking God.
Talking loyalty and blood.
Same people selling family values
couldn't practice what they were.
I watched the contradictions.
Studied every move.
The loudest person in the room usually got the most to prove.
The lie had marketing.
The truth had no campaign.
That's why everybody bought the wave and never saw the rain.
They threw dirt on my name.
I treated it like soil.
Now every seed I planted
pays me back for the toil.
The mirror ain't glass.
It's a courtroom for the truth.
Every crack in the reflection got evidence from my youth.
The mirror don't gossip.
The mirror don't hate.
It just waits for the mask to lose shape finally.
I asked the reflection,
"Who robbed me?"
It pointed back.
I asked the reflection,
"Who saved me?"
Same answer.
That's a fact.
Social media sets you up.
Friends set you up.
Family sets you up.
We both got played.
The truth even woke you up.
See, a setup only works when the target wants to believe,
And some wounds come gift-wrapped with a bow on the sleeve.
Six years.
Gone.
Trying to water flowers
that were planted where they don't belong.
Six years.
Gone.
Pouring loyalty into a bucket
with the bottoms torn.
But I ain't bitter.
I'm dangerous now.
Because clarity is dangerous.
Discipline dangerous.
A man who survived deception without becoming deception—
That's dangerous now.
The mirror still reflects.
The tape still spins.
Truth don't knock twice.
It just walks in.
Now when I see my reflection,
I don't see defeat.
I see every lesson that betrayal couldn't teach.
And here's the riddle—
What's heavier than a lie?
The truth...
After you spend years trying to carry both sides.
